Enagic’s alkaline water ionization technologies, though impressive, unfortunately base their marketing on health claims that are not scientifically proven. The thing is, there are real people who have seen real benefits from it.

These water ionization machines are extremely hard to sell, due to their over-the-top pricing. However, its good-paying compensation plan more than makes up for it, putting you in an advantageous position that you seldom see with other MLM companies.

If you have a knack for selling, and know how to create an online presence that gets ready buyers flocking to you, this may work for you as a lucrative income stream.

What is Enagic Kangen Water

A brief background of Enagic

Enagic started off as a division of Sony, in Japan, back in 1974. Over the years, it has developed the most advanced water ionization systems, branded as Kangen Water machines.

It now markets to 23 countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and places in Europe and Asia.

Enagic manufatures its own machines and accessories, so quality control is a huge plus. Being made in Japan undoubtedly contributes to the level of trust that consumers have for the company.

What is Kangen Water

According to Enagic, pollutants in tap water is not well regulated, and can often contain contaminants at unacceptable levels. Bottled water is expensive, with added minerals that contain no proven health benefits.

Reverse osmosis water is stripped of healthy minerals, making it unhealthy.

Enters Kangen Water, clean and free of pollutants, containing healthy minerals and has a positive pH level.

To be frank, I couldn’t stop my eyes from rolling when I read this.

This gave me a strong impression that Enagic is not very responsible with its words. They criticize bottled water for adding minerals that have no proven health benefits. And then claim that reverse osmosis water is unhealthy as it strips the water of minerals.

Kangen Water has ‘healthy’ minerals added to it.

All I can say is, the argument is pulling the reader to the conclusion that if it’s not Kangen Water, it’s not good for you.

Then they shoot themselves in the foot by stating that Kangen Water should not be used to make powdered milk for infants. Why? If Kangen Water is such a good replacement for anyone’s entire water intake, why deprive infants of it?

The ‘science’ behind Kangen Water

Enagic has its team of in-house scientists. Inadvertently they will have to support the ‘science’ behind Kangen Water.

But ask any independent scientist or chemist, and you will see the truth.

You can read the full article about alkaline water systems on one of my favorite sources for examining pseudoscience and popular misinformation: Skeptoid.com

Here is an extract:

” Make no mistake about it: Ionizing and alkalizing water machines are a textbook example of inventing an imaginary problem that needs to be solved with expensive pseudoscientific hardware.”

Here’s another one, by a respected chemist Stephen Lower:

” “Ionized water” is one of many products and panaceas that the wonky-water wellness industry flogs onto the large segment of the general public that lacks the scientific background to distinguish scientific fact from pseudoscientific hype when the two are closely intertwined.”

Personally, I’m a science person. Use science and I will be easily convinced. At the same time, I also believe that nature heals. There is no reason to alter the state of water that nature has gifted us with, if life on earth has flourished on it since the beginning of time.

Placebo Effect?

So for those who have seen a drastic health effect with Kangen Water, it could be a combination of placebo effect, and an improved lifestyle of better diet, more regular exercise, less stress, etc.

I can’t say for sure, as every individual’s circumstances are different.

But if you are willing to fork out a few grand, and it has proven to work for you by improving your overall well-being, then hey, why not?

To succeed at any direct selling business, first and foremost you must be totally passionate about the product. This conviction for what you are selling can be sensed by your potential customers only if you have experienced its immense benefits for yourself.

Now let’s take a look at the range of Kangen Water machines that are available.

Enagic Product Line

LeveLuk SD501 is Enagic’s flagship Kangen Water machine.

It costs $3,980 (at the time of this writing), and is capable of producing 5 water types: Strong Kangen Water, Kangen Water, Neutral Water, Beauty Water, and Strong Acidic Water.

There are several other machines, including
– the newest and most powerful antioxidant machine LeveLuk K8 (costing $4,980),
– the Super SD501 for heavy usage (costing $5,980),
– SD501U to be nestled discreetly under the sink,
– starter models JRII and LeveLuk-R.

Besides Kangen Water machines, Enagic also sells another product line, called Ukon DD, which are supplements, tea, and soap made from turmeric.

I was shocked to learn that Kangen Ukon is sold by a 4-month supply, costing $760 for brand new customers.

Enagic Customers’ Feedback

I have read many positive stories about Kangen Water on social media platforms.

However, there seems to be an equal number of negative reviews. Take a look at some of them.

In fact, many people would have done their own research and avoided this company altogether, so I have a feeling it would not be that easy to sell Enagic Kangen Water, especially if you are limiting yourself to your warm market (family and friends).

Enagic Kangen Water Business Opportunity

Strictly speaking, Enagic can be considered as not an MLM (multilevel marketing) company, as it does not run its compensation plan like most conventional MLMs.

Its focus is on retail commission, direct sales, and indirect sales a few levels deep. It does not require you to build a massive team in order to maximize your earning potential .

We will take a look at the details of its reward structure, to better understand how it may work for you.

How to become an Enagic Distributor

To become an Enagic distributor, you first purchase any Kangen Water machine. It comes with your referral link, which you will then promote among friends and family, or online, to make sales and earn commissions.

How to make money with Enagic

Enagic’s compensation plan is based on a patented 8-Point Commission Structure. There are 6 ranks altogether, 1A to 6A, each rank paying out 8 points on each sale, up your line of sponsors.

If you are at rank 1A, you earn 1 point in commission. At rank 2A, you will earn 2 points, and so on, until 6 points at rank 6A.

When you make a sale, your direct sponsor will also earn points corresponding to his or her rank. The next person up the line earns as well, and so on until all the 8 points are paid out.

Each machine is awarded a money value per point. For the flagship LeveLuk SD501, every point is worth $285.

This means by the time you reach 6A in rank, every SD501 machine you sell is going to make you $1,710 in commission.

Rank 1A

From the lowest 1A rank, you simply need 3 direct sales to progress to the next rank, 2A.

Though it sounds simple, it is not. Because of how expensive the machines are, even making one direct sale can be quite an uphill task.

Besides earning commission from direct sales, each direct sale made when you were at rank 1A also builds you a 1A team.

When anyone from your team of 8 levels deep makes a sale, it becomes your indirect sale, and you get to earn one point in commission value as long as the 8 points associated with the sale have not been fully paid out to those below you.

Rank 2A

From this rank 2A, to progress to the next rank 3A, you need to accumulate a total of 10 sales (made up of direct and indirect). On your next direct sale, you will then become a rank 3A.

At rank 2A, you earn 2 points commission value for every direct sale, and at the same time build your 2A team with each of these sales.

When anyone from your 2A team makes a sale, the 8 points get paid starting from the person who made the sale and upwards. By the time it reaches you, you earn 2 points commission value as long as the 8 points have not been paid out fully to those below you.

You continue to earn 1 point commission value from your 1A team whenever an indirect sale is made.

I won’t be covering the compensation details for the rest of the ranks here, but you get the idea.

Advantages of Enagic compensation plan

There are a few things I really like about the Enagic compensation plan.

But they are very likely put in place to make things slightly easier for their distributors, knowing how very tough it can be to sell such expensive alkaline water ionization systems.

1. No monthly quota, so you never lose your ranks

All the sales, direct and indirect, are cumulative and simply add on. This means you can go for any length of time without making any sales, and not have it impact your rank.

Your rank stays until you have made enough sales to qualify for progression to the next rank.

This takes some of the pressure off, compared to many other MLM compensation plans, where distributors are required to maintain some minimum sales every month, failing which they would lose their ranks.

2. Does not push bulk of earnings up to the top of the organization

Since every sale generates 8 points in commission value, which get paid out starting from the person making the sales and then to his or her uplines until the 8 points get fully paid out, this means earnings do not get transferred to those at the top of the echelons.

I bring out this point because almost all MLM compensation plans are designed to be overly complicated and convoluted, to hide the fact that the heavy bulk of the earnings are paid to those few high level leaders. New distributors usually get paid an unfair, meagre amount.

Enagic’s compensation plan is much more fair and transparent, as well as easy to understand.

3. Product – focused

The business opportunity is very much product-based, rather than being heavy on recruitment efforts.

People buy the Kangen Water machines only if they genuinely believe its beneficial health effects. Becoming a distributor as a result of the purchase becomes sort of like a ‘by-product’.

This is a refreshing change from regular MLMs (like Amway, Herbalife, Nu Skin, Jeunesse, etc.) where people are often pressured into buying expensive product packages just so they can get themselves into the business opportunity.

Downside of the Enagic compensation plan

1. Requirements for direct sales

Though you get to preserve the rank that you had attained even with no further results in sales, your earnings are definitely going to take a hit, in terms of the commissions you are eligible for, when indirect sales are made by your team members.

For example, after a few months without making any direct sale, your commission from indirect sales is going to become 50%.

Go for two years without a single direct sale, and your commission for indirect sales will drop straight down to zero.

So even if you somehow manage to build a very active and successful team that makes lots of indirect sales for you, to reap the maximum earnings, you will need those direct sales coming in as well.

2. As your team members advance in ranks, your earnings drop

Suppose you have a 1A team in which your team members are rising through the ranks, they are going to earn a bigger portion of the 8 points generated for each sale.

And your earnings are doing to drop.

Say everyone in your 1A team used to be at 1A rank. You get to make indirect sales up to 8 levels deep.

If members in the team are now at rank 2A, the 8 points would be exhausted by 4 levels deep, which means you could well be earning nothing for many of the indirect sales.

Will Enagic work for you

Personally, I will never promote Enagic, because I do not believe it works.

But everyone is different. You may be convinced by the life-changing stories about alkaline water, or you may have experienced the benefits for yourself.

Whatever it is, if you are passionate about how Kangen Water can help others, and know some marketing skills to successfully promote high-end products, then Enagic could be for you.

To round up this article, let me recap and summarize the pros and cons, before I finally make my conclusion.

Pros of Enagic

1. Established company

Enagic has been in operation for decades. There has to be a number of happy customers for it to have survived for that long.

2. Focus is on retail of products

Distributors have only one purpose: to make sales. A company that is product-driven will find ways to develop and improve on what they deliver to customers.

3. Compensation plan rewards fairly

I admire Enagic for their fair compensation plan, which rewards the person who made the sale, and a few levels up, instead of passing the earnings right up to the top of the organization.

Cons of Enagic

1. Exorbitant pricing

Not everyone off the street can afford a Kangen Water machine. This greatly limits your market, mainly to a higher income one.

2. High upfront investment

A water machine that sets you back by a few thousand dollars, with no guarantee of making the money back. This should prompt any would-be Kangen distributor to think twice, and even thrice, before committing to it.

3. You earn less as your team members level up

As your team members level up their ranks, you start to earn less commission through indirect sales, as these members will be earning more out of the 8 points generated from each sale.

4. Family and friends start to shun you

It is natural for any new distributor to start promoting the products to their family and friends. This may inevitably lead to some strained relationships.

Is Enagic Scam or legit?

Enagic is a legitimate direct sales company for Kangen Water machines.

Though not backed by science and questioned on the effectiveness of the alkaline water by many, there is about an equal number who swear that Kangen Water has improved their health conditions by leaps and bounds.

I wouldn’t sell it, but you can, depending on your own conviction for the products, and your expertise on marketing.

An Alternative

If you are looking for a home-based business that allows you to build up a full time income while enjoying the time and space flexibility of working from home, you have to check out what I am doing.

I earn through commissions too, but not by any face to face selling.

Moreover, I do not have to attach myself to just one single company, as there is no financial investment involved to promote the companies that I choose to work with.

Here is a peek into my earnings on a recent day:

That’s almost $200 in just one single day. It’s nothing to boast about, though, as it’s just a small fraction of its full potential. I just wanted to show you the possibilities.
